Directed Interaction

Directed Interaction is a term used to describe how ProEMPT coordinates all available data with all available resources once a process has been defined and activated.

Once an emergency response process is running, it will continually evaluate all available data against the predetermined response(s) in order to determine the most appropriate actions. This may involve continually incorporating data from external sources, or soliciting information from emergency response personnel on site at the event. The ability to continually incorporate the most up-to-date information in a real-time fashion is critical to making prompt and accurate decisions during a crisis situation. Emergency management processes will continually seek the goal of completing the process, i.e. responding to the current event, according to the priorities and objectives specified by the author of the process.

Once an emergency response process is available for service, it may be started either automatically or manually. Examples of automatically started processes would be a process that is initiated when a rain or river gage reaches a certain level, or a process which is automatically triggered by a detection event on a bio-hazard monitor. Processes may also be started manually by anyone authorized to do so, for example by an emergency response center person in response to called in information about an emergency event.
